Most of us don’t think about Toilet Maintenance until there is a problem

Once it is broken or not working properly, you realize just how important this fixture is, and waiting until there is a problem can cost more money and downtime, not to mention a possible increase in your water bill. Over time, the seals and other parts get cracked hardened or slime build up and no longer will stop the water from flowing. Regular toilet maintenance can keep your valves, water lines, and other components in optimal working order and ultimately last longer.

Here are a few toilet maintenance tips to help

    • If your toilet is running this could be a sign of a leak in the tank of your toilet. It is important to periodically check the flapper inside your toilet tank to make sure that it is not broken or deteriorating. This can lead to higher bills and can possibly lead to a much larger problem if left unattended.
    • Do not flush foreign objects down the toilet. The only thing that should be flushed down a toilet besides waste is toilet paper. This can help with preventing clogged drains and sewer lines and extend the lifespan of the pipes in your home.
    • Check around your toilet to make sure the rubber seal is not broken or in the process of deteriorating and is operating properly. This can help make sure your toilet is not leaking from underneath.
    • Keep your toilet clean! Make sure you are cleaning your toilet regularly. It is a good idea to clean your toilet weekly. This can help with the surface of the toilet bowl.
